12/30/2018 0 Comments Leslie C. Youngblood WritesTHE BOOK "Love ain't like that." "How is it then?" Peaches asked, turning on her stomach to face me. "It's like sky. If you keep driving and driving, gas will run out, right?" "That's why we gotta go to the gas station." "Yep. But have you ever seen the sky run out? No matter how far we go?" "No, when we look up, there it is." "Well that's the kind of love Daddy and Mama got for us, Peaches--love like sky." "It never ends?" "Never." G-baby and her younger sister, Peaches, are still getting used to their "blended-up" family. They live with Mama and Frank out in the suburbs, and they haven't seen their real daddy much since he married Millicent. G-baby misses her best friend back in Atlanta, and is crushed that her glamorous new stepsister, Tangie, wants nothing to do with her. G-baby is so preoccupied with earning Tangie's approval that she isn't there for her own little sister when she needs her most. Peaches gets sick— really sick. Suddenly, Mama and Daddy are arguing like they did before the divorce, and even the doctors at the hospital don't know how to help Peaches get better. It's up to G-baby to put things right. She knows Peaches can be strong again if she can only see that their family's love for her really is like sky. THE AUTHOR

THE AUTHOR
Unlike many authors, Armen was not an early reader. He can honestly say that he didn’t voluntarily read a book until he finished The Hobbit in sixth grade. After that reading became a vice as he ravenously devoured science fiction and fantasy stories. Taking a more practical approach to college, he earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he was an Honorable-Mention All-American swimmer his senior year.
Commissioned as an officer in the USAF, he quickly found his way into systems development. After working on top secret ‘Area 51’ projects, where he never saw a single alien (dead or alive), he left the service and earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina. He spent a decade riding the internet wave and moving through five different states. After the wave crashed his environmental interest led him to join a second generation bio-fuels company – making fuel out of wood chips, corn cobs, and other agricultural waste. A highlight was presenting ideas to jumpstart the industry to United States House and Senate staffers.
Looking for something new, he and his wife opened a group of franchised hair salons. In addition to grounding them in one place, he finally found time to write those stories that had been bouncing around in his head since high school. His stories mix elements of science and history with a healthy dose of fantasy.
When not writing or coaching swimming he can be found swimming, reading a book, playing ukulele, or enjoying the outdoors with his family. He lives outside of Rochester, NY with his wife and three children.

Glenn McCarty Writes
THE BOOK
Inspired by buddy adventure novels like Homer Price, The Great Brain, and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, the story follows 12-year-old Eugene Appleton, whose summer in the frontier town of Rattlesnake Junction, Colorado, promises to be just as sleepy as the ones before, with his only excitement provided by the pulse-pounding Dead-Eye Dan adventure novels he devours. But Eugene’s life swerves into unexpected territory with the arrival of Tumbleweed Thompson, a gangly, red-haired drifter who spins yarns about whaling voyages in the Atlantic and ice fishing with the Inuits. It’s a novel about friendship, adventure, belonging, and finding out there’s a whole lot more out there than you first thought.
